I'm not saying they all are, but if they could play them better than they can build them, someone else would be making their guitars. Luthiers frequently cite: Honestly, think about that for a second, the few luthiers I have known over the years were lousy guitarists and new nothing about tone. It says above that "set necks" are brighter, I've never found that to be the case, have you? I've found that different woods affect that much more, even one's of the same variety. Yet the guitar has a Floyd on it? Well, I learned something today, Thanks unix-guy! Another cited disadvantage is the inability or relative complexity of adding a double-locking tremolo to the guitar, as the routing for cavities would interfere with deeply set neck. The main disadvantage is relatively complex construction that leads to higher manufacturing and servicing costs. comfortable access to top frets (due to lack of hard heel and bolt plate),.improved tone and sustain (due to deep insertion and body made of single piece of wood, not laminated as in neck-through),.The result is usually told to have combined advantages of all these methods, mostly eliminating their disadvantages. Thanks for the link though, I thought set-thru was a typo.Įdit: Actually it is, the Wiki says set-through neck while Amazon, and probably ESP say set-thru neck. Well I would, but I still don't know what really has, I couldn't find the model he listed when I Googled it, but the one above turned up.
#Jackson dinky dk2 eerie dess swirl duncan design pu how to
When I was searching I had to go through EVERY Jackson listed on eBay and Reverb because several people don't know how to put key words in their title description, like USA for instance! Geez! Hell the one I finally chose does not have "USA" in the title anywhere, only Jackson "Custom Shop." The same seller has a Les Paul for sale and his listing says: "Gibson Custom Shop Reissue Historic 1959 R9 High Grade AAA+ Flame Maple Top" I saw some good deals on SL2H's, there are more Soloist/Dinky/Phil Collen style guitars than King V's, RR's and Warrior's combined. Yeah I've been searching everyday fro nearly a month for a Jackson USA Rhoads or King V, I know some folks can't stand the but I've been playing a V since I was a teenager and love 'em. Set-Thru Neck? Really Amazon, what is that? I'm going to guess How do you like the Custom 5 pickup? Great looking guitar btw! The Pickups are passive Seymour Duncan Custom-5 TB-14(b) & Jazz(n).It has a Set-Thru Neck Construction with a 25.5" Scale, 24 Extra Jumbo Frets and a Thin-U Neck Contour. So, two main questions:ġ) Is it worth my time to replace Bridge and Middle pickups to match the ones in the PC1 along with something else in the neck or will I never get this guitar to sound even close to a PC1?Ģ) If it’s worth my time, what pickup should I put in the neck? I know there is the Fernandez Sustainer, but that looks like it would be a bear to get installed.Does it come with Schaller strap buttons? You can’t buy just the Sustainer/Driver from Jackson. The PC1 has a DiMarzio Super 3 Humbucker in the Bridge, A DiMarzio HS2 Stacked Humbucker in the Middle, and a Jackson Sustainer/Driver in the neck. I know the body materials are different so they will never sound exactly the same, but I would like to change all the pickups to get the sound as close to a Phil Collen PC1 as possible.

It’s one of the older models that came with the Duncan Design pickups. I bought it new, but can’t remember the year I bought it. I have a Jackson Dinky DK2 in eerie dess swirl.
